I CE Intermediate Level
This workshop is designed to help participants:

  • Learners will be able to describe the components of social communications
  • Learners will be able to differentiate a Social Communication Disorder
  • Learners will understand the speech-language pathologist's role in evaluation and treatment of social communication deficits in children and adolesents.

Program Description

Are you puzzled about social communication deficits? The relatively new diagnostic designation of Social Communication Disorder has left many professionals confused in regard to how to differentiate pragmatic language difficulties and social communication problems from Autism. This presentation will help clarify the intertwining components of language processing, pragmatics and social and emotional learning.

Anita Werner, M.S., who founded Pediatric Speech and Language Specialists in 1989, has more than 30 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist. She maintains an active clinical practice with the goal of providing the most advanced, effective speech and language therapy available anywhere. In addition to specializing in social communication difficulties, Anita has extensive experience in the treatment of individuals with receptive/expressive language disorders, speech disorders, auditory/language processing disorders, childhood apraxia of speech and executive function difficulties. She is also the co-director of Lexis Preparatory School, which serves children with learning differences

The facility provides accommodations for those with disabilities.
If special accomodations are needed, contact Chris Lebovitz, Ph.D.
