Program Description
Two curious professionals trying to learn how to use ChatGPT, asked a simple question: GENERATE A LIST OF THE 50 MOST VEXING ETHICAL QUANDARIES THAT PSYCHOLOGISTS FACE. Boy, were they surprised AND impressed with the response. This Ethics Webinar will focus on addressing as many of the items AI-generated as we can. We will share the 50 questions with attendees at the presentation and randomly request the audience to select items they would like us to address. We will facilitate discussion with the audience from there. Here are just a few examples:
- What if a client confesses intent to harm someone but refuses to give details?
- Can you keep a minor’s therapy confidential from their parents?
- How do you handle situations where the client is at risk of suicide but resists intervention?
- Are you obligated to report illegal activity disclosed in therapy?
- What if a client dies who can access their records?
- Should you disclose your own beliefs in politically charged therapy topics?
- What if a colleague is behaving unethically but you are unsure if or how to report it?
See? Pretty challenging questions, huh? Well, come join us for a three-hour discussion and exchange of ideas about these and other questions AI raised, as well as ones you may bring to the session. We will attempt to apply standards and principles from the REFERENCES BELOW when discussing answers to the AI questions.
