Gary Perrin, Ph.D. 

Dr. Perrin is in independent practice in Tucson where I provide mostly forensic examinations and consultation. I decided to run for this position because of my longstanding belief in the importance of AzPA as a professional home for psychologists in Arizona, as an advocate for psychology and psychologists, and as a leader in enhancing the profession of psychology throughout the state. I currently serve as AzPA’s Liaison to the Arizona Board of Psychologist Examiners.

Membership Representative 
Leonardo J. Caraballo, Psy.D.

Dr. Leonardo J. Caraballo is an inpatient mental health psychologist for the Phoenix VA Health Care System and works as part of an interprofessional team to serve Veterans with serious mental illness. He received his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from La Salle University (Philadelphia, PA) in 2013. Dr. Caraballo completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System with a focus in Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery (PSR&R) and Serious Mental Illness. In addition to providing recovery-oriented services, Dr. Caraballo has an interest in PSR&R research, training, and dissemination. His primary goal as co-chair of the AzPA membership committee is to increase collaboration between AzPA committees, such as the LGBTQ committee, to enhance educational opportunities and foster inclusivity across mental health disciplines.

Past-President

Mark Rohde, Ph.D.

 

Dr. Rohde graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State and did additional training at NAU  and Oxford University before finishing a Ph.D. at the Union Institute and University.  He held administrative positions in community mental and residential treatment before entering private practice.   

 

Dr. Rohde has held leadership positions in AzPA dating to the mid-1990's.  Twice he’s been honored for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology by AzPA.  He holds Diplomate status with the American Board of Assessment Psychology and has specialty certification in addictions from the APA’s College of Professional Psychology.  In 2000 he co-founded notMYkid and is currently a commissioner on a board within the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith, and Family.

Rebbeca Lahann, Psy.D.

Dr. Lahann is the Clinical Director of the group practice Spectrum Psychology and Wellness in Gilbert, AZ, where she specializes in adult counseling, chronic medical and pain management, geropsychology and psychological assessment services.  She has been a staff consultant at Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital, Abrazo Central Campus, Banner Heart Hospital, and HealthSouth East Valley Rehabilitation Hospital.  Dr. Lahann is a past President of the Arizona Psychological Association’s Training Consortium, and has been honored to receive the Arizona Psychological Foundation’s Outstanding Post-Doctoral Award and Outstanding Early Career Psychologist Award, as well as the American Psychological Association’s Early Career Achievement Award.

Treasurer
John Blattner, Ph.D.

 

Dr. Blattner holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Fielding Graduate University and served in several leadership roles in AzPA after being President & Treasurer of the Illinois Psychological Association and on the Executive Board for the Society of Consulting Psychology. He has been a frequent speaker, author, and television commentator.

 

Dr. Blattner is an experienced organizational consultant and licensed clinical psychologist, with decades of experience helping individuals and organizations to manage change and further develop their unique strengths. He specializes in executive coaching, organizational culture assessment, executive performance assessment, and team development.  Dr. Blattner led his own management consulting practice in the Chicago area prior to relocated to Arizona on a full-time basis.

Academic Representative

Ashley K. Randall, Ph.D.

 

Dr. Randall is an assistant professor of Counseling and Counseling Psychology at Arizona State University, where she serves as the Director of Training for the APA-accredited doctoral program. She obtained her PhD in Family Studies and Human Development from the University of Arizona, and received a Fulbright Fellowship in 2007 to conduct research in Switzerland. Her area of expertise is in understanding couples’ stress and interpersonal emotion regulation, and resulting implications for individual and relational well-being. She has published and presented nationally and internationally on these topics. Dr. Randall is an item-writer for the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP), and is an active member of the American Psychological Association and the International Association for Relationship Research. She serves on the editorial board for Emotion, the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, and The Counseling Psychologist.

APA Council Representative
Christopher J. Nicholls, Ph.D., ABPP, ABPdN

Dr. Nicholls is in private practice with 35+ years of experience.  He is a diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology (Clinical) as well as the American Board of Pediatric Neuropsychology.  Dr. Nicholls has been on the faculties of several institutions, currently including Arizona State University. He has written or contributed to several articles, book reviews, and has presented extensively at the state, national and international level. Communications Representative 
Sandra Klar, LLB, Psy.D.

Dr. Klar is a clinical psychologist specializing in anxiety disorders and stress. She enjoys combining cognitive behavioral, motivational interviewing, and Socratic questioning techniques in providing psychoeducation and therapy to individuals and groups. Dr. Klar is a member of AzPA's Ethics Committee and serves as Chair of the APA-affiliated Public Education Committee. Her background in law and business, along with clinical training in a variety of psychology inpatient and outpatient settings, provides her with a pragmatic, practical perspective among psychologists. On a personal level, she values kindness, gentleness, and compassion for all.

Diversity Representative

Michelle Melton, Psy.D. 

Dr. Michelle Melton received her Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Psychology from the Arizona School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. She is independent licensed to practice in Arizona and Virginia. Dr. Melton is a psychologist in the outpatient general mental health clinic at the Phoenix VA Healthcare System. She has served as the Director of Clinical Training and Associate Professor in the masters and doctoral clinical psychology programs at the Arizona School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. She currently  serves as the Assistant Training Director for the PVAHCS Psychology Fellowship Programs, with administrative responsibilities for all eight multiple practice program Fellows.  Dr. Melton facilitates the monthly Supervision of Supervision Clinic for supervisors involved in the training program. She  is also a member of the Phoenix  VA Diversity Training Committee and Diversity Action Committee.

 

Dr. Melton has worked in private practice and inpatient psychiatric hospitals providing individual and group therapy, crisis intervention services, as well as a variety of consultation services including workshops and program development. She is skilled in working within short-term, cognitive-behavorial and solution-focused framework, as well as intensive, insight-oriented approaches in treating a variety of human problems. Dr. Melton also conducts psychological assessments including intelligence testing, achievement testing, neuropsychological screening, personality assessment, and diagnostic assessment. Her research interests include professional identity development, racial identity, and training and supervision in psychology. Dr. Melton is committed to mentoring students studying psychology and enriching them with knowledge on systemic issues affecting the field, training, and the treatment of clients.

Patricia I. Johnson, Ph.D.

Dr. Johnson is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Scottsdale. Her practice focuses on labor and employment issues, corporate consultation, forensic and independent psychological evaluations, and treatment of workplace injury/trauma and adult populations. She has served in multiple volunteer positions within AzPA including as President. She represented Arizona on the APA Council of Representatives and has served as Federal Advocacy Coordinator since 1990. In that role she serves as liaison to Arizona’s Congressional offices. She has also been actively involved with State legislative issues, served as Chair of the RxP subcommittee for two years, and is a current active member of the Legislative Committee. She has been the elected Legislative Representative to the AzPA Governing Council continuously since 2005.

In addition to his private practice, focusing on forensic psychological services, Dr. Stewart serves as  the Program Director at Yavapai Restoration to Competency, serving Yavapai County and other contract counties in the State of Arizona. He is also affiliate staff at the Yavapai Regional Medical Center.
